Mahri is one amongst the shadows cast by enclosures and cages. The black wolf, only slightly larger than the natural variety but considerably smaller than a dire, moves stealthily from one to the other. Her black nose twitches, catching the myriad of scents that drift from the animal prisons. Triangular ears swivel and twitch, trying to hear everything all at once. It's the tiger she's stalking, the huge animal presenting a challenge she just can't pass up. The prowling feline's tail sways lazily as it slips past her hiding place. But, no. It's not time. Not yet. Silver-gray eyes dart about, searching for something, or someone. Was that a flash of white? No, it had to be the wolf's imagination.
You is following Lottie again and it's making her edgy. Not one of her thoughtless travels that concerned following said ghost-child have ended well after all so it's no wonder that her hackles stand upright, nostril's flaring in impatient snorts. Of course the fact that the girl is dancing straight into towns isn't exactly what you say comforting either considering the fact that the wolf has made it a rather firm habit to avoid said two-walker places. So blood red eyes keep flickering between the small figure of Little-Lottie moving through obstacles she gracefully avoids and the many hiding places this town hides. Nothing is hidden from those intense eyes and with the aid of her sensitive ears it doesn't take long before Mahri is spotted. It's not the first time Lottie has guided her towards those she tends to tolerate in her presence, if grudgingly and it's not the first time the wolf utters a snort and sends her a bit of a look for it. A wolf's head gives little opportunity for glares though and so instead the white one easily slips between the cages, every movement laced with the grace of a predator. All the grace of the world, however, would not hide her white fur and so it's no wonder some animals blink and flinch nervously as the wolf moves past their resting places. Senka doesn't really notice, having no eyes for the kangaroo jumping away from her as all of her attention is caught between Lottie and Mahri. Lottie is smiling, a serene kind of smile that is ill-fitted for her round child face as she slowly, ever so slowly drift closer to the alpha…leaving the rogue to follow.
You would snort in amusement at the sight of the tiger. Figures that the other would choose a prey like this one.
Lirithen :: Bony arms clasped tightly around the trunk of the single tree that had been allowed to grow in the tiger's cage, the zookeeper gave a terrified squeak as he watched the striped feline pad slowly in circles beneath, pink tongue lapping hungrily over the animals jaw. Forget the dropped bucket of raw meat that had been presented for it's daily meal, the predator had had enough. It was insulting to be spoon-fed so, no need to work for it's meals. So when the skinny man had entered the cage again and tried to tempt the animal with the raw boar meat again, Tiger had snapped. Now she watched her intended prey carefully, ready to pounce upon him when the strength in his arms gave. Distracted such, the wolves went unnoticed. For the moment, atleast.
Mahri is just about to make her move on the big cat when she feels the eery presence of something otherworldly. Crouching, the lycan gives an involuntary snarl and turns, coming face to face with the ghost girl from the manse and the white who follows. The zookeeper, scrawny as he is and clinging to the three, isn't paid too much attention. However, the growl that rumbles in the wolf's chest does catch the tiger's attention about then. Natural feline curiosity has the large animal leaving the man alone and exiting the still open door to investigate. A rough tongue swipes across silken whiskers. Instinct told the big cat that these two are a threat, a challenge to it's intended meal currently treed. For her part, Mahri is distracted enough that when the tiger makes his move, she's a split second shy of being quick enough to evade the extended claws. Three long gashes on her flank are the reward for her inatentiveness.
You watches Lottie move away for as long as the ghost will let her. The child has a habit of disappearing, suddenly and quickly. But then there are other manners to attend to, blood in the air and the smell of it telling her it doesn't belong to the cat. The elder, for all her years of experience, had been even more distracted then the other wolf. It takes some time for her eyes to focus again, to turn from that dreamy kind of look that the ghosts put in them. When she focuses again the tiger is all but in her face, Mahri having gotten out of its way and unwittingly focussing the beast's attention on the other beast present. Immediately the white one snarls, rearing up on her hind legs to meet it with the recklessness of her kind. Years may have passed, many experiences had but not even an elder lycan manages to keep her cool in the heat of anger and sudden violence. And so tiger and wolf turn into a snarling ball, rocking against cages while nails and fangs try to take as much flesh as they can. Senka escapes suddenly and without warning, a graceful leap putting distance between her and the creature that has all but exactly the same size as her. Snarling, drooling and bleeding the white one only now has time to check for Mahri, several gashes already on her side but all of them shallow. She hasn't managed to give the tiger wounds much worse either, but at least she's managed to free herself to give her time to work with the other wolf. It's true, she doesn't like to hunt with others but right now all that matters is the tiger's demise, it's become a matter of principle now. Her noble head lowers, ears flatten and from her open maw her saliva freely drips. When Senka is angry, all of her noble features and grace seem to have disappeared. It's not a wolf that stands between the cages then but a beast.
Lirithen :: Horrified gasps came from the skinny man, whom wrestled briefly between life and duty before beginning to climb, as quickly as he is able, down the trunk of his airborne shelter. His feet hit the ground, and he turned to see what was the source of all the rabid snarling and howling that he had been unable to see with his back turned... And promptly burst into anguished tears. Tiger battled with a fury unmatched, every claw launched with murderous intent, every bite fuelled by hatred and hunger, but alas, the years of captivity had taken their toll. With an easy existence, food and shelter readily available, she'd not had need to fight nor hunt, and when the two beasts did finally emerge from their heated combat, Tiger had evidently come out the worse. She limped with each step, cuts causing blood to stain her striped coat all across her body. A pained whine came the feline, but still, she eyed the lupine pair preparedly, barring her teeth all the while. The zookeeper, meanwhile, darted from the confines of the tiger cage and dashed into a nearby hut, whimpering pathetically all the while. Hands scrambled for the rope that hung from the ceiling, and tugging with all his meagre might, the bell atop the hut was sent a-ringing. Citizens panicked, and became a terror-stricken mob that dashed for the zoo's exit, while in contrast, nearby guards were roused into alarm, and headed through the city streets towards the zoo, reaching for their weapons.
Mahri licked her wounds clean, ignoring the snarling and vicous fight between the rogue wolf and the tiger. With the phantom child vanished, the sense of being watched left as well. The sleek little alpha finishes with the gashes and looks towards the fight-ready albino. It's about then that her own more dangerous and feral side takes over. No longer completely in control, the wolf's hackles bristle and a growl rumbles once more. Only this time it's not for the retreating beast but for the wolf her mind subconsiously defers to in most situations. Not this one though. There's challenge in the air and despite the clap of armored feet against stone and the clanging of the bell, she's ready to meet it. Not even the screaming and rushing two leggers can distract her now. Her snout curls and wrinkles, baring pearly canines tinged pink with the blood cleaned from her side. Senka is advanced upon, Mahri's tongue sliding between her teeth in anticipation of the flesh that's to be rendered from the white, should she get the chance.
You is welcoming Mahri. Snarling, eyes ablaze with an anger that will never be matched by the sane she has all but forgotten about the tiger, or its fangs. And so her head lowers, a violent gesture as the white one seems all to eager to take on Mahri instead. Then again, it would not be the first time that the elder is prepared to take on the alpha, nor will it be the last. It's the whistle of a rock through the air that has her stopping just as muscles, buldge, preparing to leap. Just barely does the white manage to avoid the rock thrown at her head, a sudden blink clearing some of that haze from her eyes. Anger is a familiar emotion by now, more easily shaken then in her younger years and so ears manage to perk just as her head rises a little more. Black lids blink in surprise as she takes in the shine what can only be the metal covering the guards...Of course, the fact that this leaves her open for not just Mahri's but also the tiger's anger is somewhat forgotten by now. Her ego has always been her weakest point..
Lirithen :: The zookeeper watched from the safety of his hut, eyes wide and fearful. What a day this had been. Quickly, he revisited the events in his head, and then began reconstructing the day piece-by-piece, tweaking the facts to make it seem that he was the hero, and maybe his demanding, devil-spawne wife would actually let him back into the house tonight. But, fantasies aside, he was pleased when the guards arrived, only to be devastated once he watched Tiger fall to the floor, succumbing to her wounds and dying of blood loss. Well, maybe not that devastated. The guards, let's say there was roughly four or five of them, were unsure as to the best course of action here, but perfectly capable of putting two and two together. There were animals out and about, and nearby, a cage with the door open. Two, and two... Animals, in the cage! They drew maces now, or the two that hadn't thought to pick up some rope on their way here did, whilst the others maintained a cautious distance. Hoping the wolves would distract each other for a while, they lay in wait for the perfect opportunity to pounce upon the lupines, tie the rope harnesses around their necks, and haul or drag them into the confines of the now-empty tiger cage. Or, if need be, crack them across the head with a heavy iron mace, and let them wake up inside the cage in a hours time.
Mahri crouches to pounce just in time to hear the whistle of the stone. Like Senka, this distracts the otherwise single-minded lycan. Of course, the city guards don't realize that these are not natural wolves. Now her attention is turned to the five men, all big and muscular and completely capable of capturing a couple of wolves. If the wolves weren't these two that is. Instead of attacking the albino, instinct has her sidling up along side, or as close as she can get, to the elder. Ears fall back flat against a squarish skull the sounds coming from her now are ones of warning. After all, it's not fair to trounce prey that haven't been warned yet. The chase is half the fun. Maces and ropes are eyed with equal suspicion. Some part of her recognizing that these are dangerous things. The first guard, elected leader of this group, makes the first move and swings his axe towards the black trying to seperate her from the white. The move is a feint, but the alpha automatically dodges the swing snarling and snapping at the thick wooden handle and the hands that grip it. It's a good thing the flesh is covered and her teeth barely graze. She doesn't want to draw blood too soon.
You snaps at Mahri at first, fangs hitting only air on purpose as the other sidles along with her. Arrogant as ever she wants the other to know she's still annoyed, even if it's mild enough to keep her protests silent for now. Instead the elder allows her eyes to fall on the guards before her, the intensity of them soon picking out the least experienced of them all. He raises the rope slightly, as if that can protect him as already his nervousness is known, fear smelled easily by two lycans on the wrong side of town. Of course the leader then decides to step in before the rookie can be intimidated too much, leaving the albino to jump and snarl in warning. Ears have long since flattened against her skull while her snout wrinkles, her snarls holding true anger now. Muscles bulge and push then, the wolf has always been known for her speed, as she moves past the guard and the other wolf alike. His plan seems to have worked for now for the white one seems to hold little concern for the fact that she's just willingly split from the other's side. Instead she's more interested in snapping and snarling at the remaining guards, making them jump back warily and swinging at her in movements that are as much of a feint as her snaps are. She has no intention of making new lycans…just a few kills, maybe. Already she's eying their throats…
Terra continued to boycott an entire town. Kelay, which seemed to be the hub of all social activity these days was avoided and so other cities were sought to find amusement in. Thanks to a spin of a mental roulette wheel that place was Larket. The vampire was not alone this day, instead accompanied by a puppy that looked to be made entirely of water but the pawprints didn't leave their mark in the dirt. The aqua-colored creature was leading a tiny parade of people; Terr and a younger boy who looked somewhat like the empath. Yellow, as he was known around these parts, was excited and that made him all the more talkative. "And the tiger! We have to see the tiger, miss Terra." To which the blonde could only agree to with a short smile and nod before Arius would list another animal that needed their visit. "And the wolf! We should have brought our wolf. Could've met his parents..." Speaking of wolves, was it Terra or did the animals seem to be out of their cages this evening? "Maybe we should go to the zoo some other time, Yellow." but the child could not be persuaded to leave behind animals. "Mister! You're not going to hurt them, right? That white one looks so cool~!" When it comes to animals he's outspoken and has no issue with approaching the guard, demanding fair treatment.
Lirithen :: Mahri's assailant was joined immediately by a companion, a particularly burly companion at that, whom dived forward with all the bravado one can imagine with his rope brandished between his hands. The group's leader yanked his arm backwards as he felt wolfish teeth graze his gauntlets, then the other man landed roughly upon the black lupine, rope coming forward in attempt to wrap the length of it tightly around the wolf's neck, and having deposited all thought of taking Mahri conscious, strangle the creature into submission. The gauntleted hands of the sergeant came forward to try and clamp his armoured fingers tightly around wolfen jaws, and wrestle with the doubtlessly struggling wolfess to try and keep her from biting anyone. Senka wasn't given such a luxury, no. The men she had chosen to tease fretted worriedly for a minute, then simply charged her in union, maces lashing forward as they tried to land a good blow upon the animal's head, and put her out for the count.
Lirithen :: "Shove off, kid," was the only recognition Arius received.
Mahri splits her attention between the two guards, the familiar childish chatter distraction enough for the one guard to get on her back. Like the wild animal she resembles, the wolf twists and contorts her body to snap lethal teeth at the would-be rider making it difficult to get the rope around her neck. Anger and a healthy dose of fear have her desperate to get the big man off. With that goal in mind, she rolls and squirms hoping to crush him under her weight. At some point the rope loops over her head and slips down to her neck while at the same time the guard's dislodged like a pesky gnat. Scrambling to her feet, the tail end of the make-shift harness trailing behind, she goes for the throat and sinks her teeth into the soft flesh. The sweet-copper taste of blood fills her mouth and drips from her maw onto the dirt. The last thing she hears is the rattle-gurggle of a struggled for breath that never quite makes it to the lungs. One down, how many more to go?
You doesn't look particulary cool at the moment, mostly just outnumbered. Snarling she's rearing on her hind legs for the second time that night, paws the size of dinner plates pushing several of them hard enough to make them see stars. Yet size and strength will only get one so far when faced with several two-walkers and soon the albino finds herself forced on all fours again. Snapping and growling, her head jerking as fingers dig into her fur and her entire body all but throwing itself away the beast manages to make some headway but only some. Mahri has made a kill though and the blood of it hangs into the air, seeping into the wolf's brain until she lunges without thought. The throat has always been her favourite spot but with so many bodies around her the beast cannot make out one long enough to lunge at it. And so fangs sink into the soft tissue of his belly instead, his scream loud and suddenly the entire world of the wolf exists out of blood. It's filling her maw, spreading over her snout and clouding her nose until all she can do is dig her fangs a little deeper…Though the wound is grave it turns out to be for a good cause for the wolf is distracted long enough for two men to leap upon her back. Immediately she snarls, turning her head and bucking and twisting and doing everything she can do get rid of the men on her back. The only thing that shows that she even knows there's a pup is in the way she tries to keep her distance, to keep it out of the fight. No, the lycan has no idea of the gruesome sight she makes, covered in blood and eyes wide and round, snout wrinkles and ears lowered as she tries to snap again and again. Not that that keeps the guards, the ones left after yet another one has fallen, from slipping a rope around her neck with the ease of one who has done that too often to wild animals…
Terra had already voiced her opinon which was leave now, forever hold her peace but Yellow protested with an approach that went neglected for the most part. It's not too hard to understand an older gentleman dismissing the rants and requests of a child but the rude way it was gone about has Terra approaching the middle of the fray only to realize that these men were attacking the animals that belonged in cages .... or did they? Both seemed familiar in a vague, nondescript way. A frown as one --Mahri-- went for the quick kill and was successful, even as Yellow stood a few feet away and played witness. Now the stand-in parental figure is on edge. Murder had happened on her watch, the animals that remained caged seem restless, and Yellow is still trying to approach Mahri, the she-wolf because there's something about her that isn't like any of the other animals. All the while, Boat, the water sprite disguised a puppy, frolicked to and fro with the occasional underwater-sounding "arf!". "Miss Terra they're trying to kill it!" frantically stated Yellow with several gestures towards the rope around the neck of the beast. The empath is too distracted by the action that Senks finds herself involved in, wincing at a particulairly nasty bite. Should she leave to help the wolf, that would leave Yellow with no protection and the child would likely extend a hand towards the wrong animal and lose it. Impossible it was to stand there... "Maybe this wolf here wants to help that one." A pointed look was given to Mahri then, a clear indication that it should be this Alpha to aide Senka.
Mahri 's ears twitch towards Terra and Arius, the only acknowledgement she made that she'd heard them. Shaking off the almost capture, the alpha charges towards the group of men around the white. Rather, she would have if someone hadn't grabed the rope that followed between her paws and pulled. Finding herself doing the canine version of a somersault, the wolf is on her back and nearly strangling while being dragged towards the still open and empty cage. "Move along, miss. And take the boy with you. No need for him to be seeing this," comes the grunting and huffing request. "Just two animals what got outta their cages is all."
You didn't notice the would-be-rescue. But then again, she could be forgiven for this little oversight by the fact that she was beginning to get strangled herself. For all her years the beast has never almost been captured, let alone in a manner of a true animal, and so it's no wonder that she has trouble bucking off the two men who seem intent on dragging her away. Then again, the fact that she just bit into the brother of one of them may be part of the reason for his determination. "After we lock 'em up we might hafta put them down, Frank," He grunts it to the other men but his voice is all but next to Senka's ear, causing her to twist and turn with renewed enthusiasm. But lycans aren't known for their ability to go without oxygen and already spots are beginning to appear before the white one's eyes, the world slowly beginning to spin while everything just seems to…slow down. Red eyes become somewhat glazed as they turn, locking in on the serenely smiling form of Little-Lottie. She waves, gently and with the cheerfulness of that of a child. One who is barely concerned about the fact that the wolf, covered in blood and struggling for her life, is losing. Senka growls in reply and just like that Lottie has gone…but she hasn't taken her trouble with her. Why oh why can't the white one learn? It's not a good idea to follow ghosts…She barely feels the ground as she collapses on it, three men on her back now while the fourth one begins to tie rope around the massive things that are her paws.
Terra : Around the neck of Yellow was a familiar blue scarf and the boy is grasping it tightly between tiny fingers. There's an overhwelming urge to take the thing off, to show this guy that you did -not- treat animals in that fashion. Which he would know considering they had nearly thirty of the creatures all of which he was an expert on. Terra ruffled the child's hair and muttered something to him before gifting a sinciere smile towards the guard who had given such honest advice. "Of course. We will be on our way now." "But Terrr~" whined Yellow, too distraught to notice he hadn't put the "Miss" before her name. Both started towards the entrance and allowed the guard to feel like they would comply. Satisfied he turned back towards the wolf with a dismissive shoulder. Bad idea - beacuse as soon as he did that, the vampire had launched herself in the air and tackled the guy, armor and all. He remained stunned enough to drop the rope as the two tumbled on the ground like cat-fighting females. There was even some hair pulling though Ter's was a bit more effective than most since she took a large piece of scalp with it. Damned toupes. This should be an adequate allowance of time for Mahri to make a run for the Great White.
Mahri just had to take some of that precious time to catch her breath before one paw reaches up to claw at the rope around her neck. Failing to remove it that way, she gives up that endeavor to sprint towards the group holding down Senka. Snarling, spittle flying everywhich way, the black plows through and bowels over three of them. Standing protectively over the prone wolf, low growls pour out of her. Muscles tremble under her sinewy skin, the urge to rip and tear almost too strong for her to ignore. But slowly and surely reason was returning and she'd be damned if she'd spill more blood in front of Yellow. Circling the guards left their comrad to the not so tender mercy of Miss Mercy. The poor bastard probably deserved whatever he got from her, no one much liked the man anyway. That one tended to kick puppies and push the weak around. It was about time he got some of his own medicine. Back to the situation at hand..Circling the wolves while the woman is occupied with the bastard guard, there are one or two feints with axes and pikes, jabs and swipes yet still the black won't budge. A single look and all three leap, coming to land on both wolves once more if Senka hasn't already gotten herself awake and untangled by then.
You tries, oh how she tries but the world is spinning and becoming just a little more black around the edges. The rope may be released but it's still tight around her neck making it all the harder for her to fully awake again. There's a sudden increase of a scent she somewhat knows though, a scent she's smelled mostly when her senses were muddled last time. Weed-person. It's only now that the wolf recognises her and with an impatient snort she finally manages to open her black lids again. Yet it's only to see men fly at her and the black shape above her, a black shape that is a little too familiar. Just her luck, being protected by a newling…She would've snorted in distaste if all the air she's managed to get back into her lungs wasn't neatly pressed out again by the many bodies currently piling on top of her. Growling (a little more weakly then she'd like to but hey with little oxygen what can you do?) she stretches her paws to try and begin to claw her way out of the pile of fur and skin, of two-walkers and lycans. A pity, really, that all of them still have so many weapons and more damn ropes. Ropes, the white one realises, are also still tangled around the very paws she's using now. Why did karma have to choose today to bite her in the tail?
Terra had left Yellow along with rogue wolves and even more guards without order. That thought is unnverving but what else could be done in the midst of a bitch fight with a male? Surely she should have won by now but she's never been much of a melee fighter and everytime a right hook was tossed it landed on an armored plate, the sensation eliciting vibrations to run through that arm and discourage future attempts. Cue Boat, to the rescue... well, it's not so much a rescue as a distraction when the mutt started to yap and yip and tug at the pants of the fellow. Though it wasn't done out of loyalty to Terr (Boat thinks it's game, he wants to play too!) the vamprie appreciated the aide nonetheless and took that golden oppurtinity to deliver a swift, unflinching kick to the cod piece. There's enough force behind it to double him over and thus provide a moral lesson: never fight with a girl that has no qualms with kicking you -there-. Standing and adjusting clothing and hair she'd look towards Yellow and blink, "Okay, so that's probably not in Blue's training... but it can be effective." As made evident by the current positon of the guard. "Miss Terra, the wolves are stuck!" and over shoulder she'd look towards the source of Yellow's wide-eyed frets. Indeed, they were most definetely that.
You is following Lottie again and it's making her edgy. Not one of her thoughtless travels that concerned following said ghost-child have ended well after all so it's no wonder that her hackles stand upright, nostril's flaring in impatient snorts.
