What you're looking for is the definition of a 'good' roleplayer. A good roleplayer in my opinion does a few things.
1. He/she establishes a character, complete with flaws and assets, and plays them out in scenarios properly and consistantly.
2. He/she creates subplots and events that strengthen his character, whether that be relationships, conflicts, or other instances.
3. He/she defines that his character should act within IC motivations, not on OOC motivations. That includes sometimes suffering injuries to pride and/or health that might have been avoided by the player.
4. He/she establishes plots/events that include other people, and give them a chance to enrich their own stories and characters through direct interaction.
5. He/she leads individuals and coaches them (through example or direct hands-on-approach) to develop their characters and add elements to their overall story.
That's the five main things a good RPer makes a habit of doing.
