Ok, so you're IN Cabal. What now?
Following is a short list of expected behaviours for members, to help keep our clan running smoothly and everyone having a good time. These expectations are the reason Cabal has survived and prospered for as long as it has, therefore they are pretty much set in stone.
Sorry if they sound a bit draconian, but Hollow being Hollow, I have felt the need to make these things -very- clear. We're actually a fun bunch, if these basic principles of respect for fellow players are adhered to.
Once more, this is not complete as yet, and will be so when I get the time.
______________
1: CLANCHAT CHANNEL USAGE: Policy
Unlike the OOC channel, clanchat (unfortunately) cannot be turned off.
So, Cabal asks that its members respect the fact that Cabal is all about roleplay. Some of our members DO NOT WANT their rp disturbed by other people's blather, and RP (in-game) always comes first.
Most of us won't give a crap what you did on the weekend, or what your cat is doing right now. And if we did, we'd ask you for your IM, or discuss it in tells or on OOC channel (depending on what the rules are there, this week).
We also have a chat function on this forum for OOC group chat, which is not used nearly enough. I recommend we start doing so, for the purposes of OOC personal chat.
So, it comes down to this:
** Every member has the utmost RIGHT to ask for clan chat to stop, or be minimised to really important and RP-relevant stuff. No whining, no complaints, if chat gets in the way of --anybody's-- rp, it is thier right to ask it to stop, and to expect that request to be honoured, and honoured both immediately and graciously.
** Equally, if you are bugged by chat, don't tell me about it. Tell your clan. You are NOT being out of line, or rude in doing so, and we all understand that. Or had better.
** It should not GET to the point where members HAVE TO ask for irrelevant-to-rp blather to be toned down. Period.
** If you habitually can't keep chat to a minimum, and respect clan requirements or your fellow roleplayers, you will probably be booted.
** In future, and despite this post and several in-chat conversations to this effect, if too many members disregard the expectation of respect for roleplay and keep up irrelevant, intrusive chat, I will request the chat function closed. If that proves to be an unpopular choice and people whine to me about a situation they themselves created, I will boot EVERYONE and start again, being a bit more picky about the type of people I allow in, this time.
I hope that's nice and clear.

2: Policy On OOC Drama Between Members as of 1-7-2008
This type of rubbish behaviour does not belong in Cabal. If you are IN Cabal it's because you have been seen as a/ an exemplary roleplayer or b/ someone likely to become one.
OOC drama with clanmates= not exemplary.
So, before you start sniping at your clansmates, especially on clanchat, tells or in-game whatevers, better pray I do not get wind of it - because I WILL BOOT YOU so fast your head will spin.
I do not care about your OOC IRL issues with people in the clan. You do not bring them in-game and inflict them on -anyone- there.
Sorry to sound harsh, but that is how it is. Like everyone else (ok, well, the better players among us), I am on Hollow to roleplay. If your issues get in the way of my enjoyment of that, or anyone else's you are out. Simple.
Too, you'll want to treat your clansmates with respect.
Snide, bitchy, smartalecky digs and that ridiculous sort of ooc-motived one-upmanship that affects so much rp in the game DOES NOT belong in Cabal.
If you make a habit of these behaviours, you can expect to be removed from the clan without warning or explanation.
If you have a problem with a fellow player in Cabal, bring it to me, or Deila, and we will mediate the issue (which doesn't mean taking up incessant whining aabout the other person, btw, merely bringing it to our attention is enough). If the other person is bugging you that much, best we all work it our together. Because we ARE big people, right?
Yeah, we're all human and we all have bad days, and I think we are all mature enough to realise this. Ongoing issues, however, need to be seen to in a calm and sensible way.
Or you know... /kick

3: Don't mix OOC and IC
Yeah, I know I'm a broken record on this one. But here I'm gonna add a bit on an issue I've come across several times this year, and am getting a bit tired of. I hope nobody else is experiencing this. If so, I'd like to know the details.
Basically, under no circumstances blame ME (the player) for Tene's IC actions. If she reacts negatively to your char at all, it is very likely you have annoyed her ICly in some way.
So ask HER about it, not ME.
I do not take my OOC feelings into play with Tene. But I DO play her realistically enough that if you annoy her ICly, it won't matter how well we get along OOCly or not, she will respond the way Tene responds, and that's that.
So-- applied to clan expectations:
If you ICly annoy Tene, threaten to kill her or anyone in her clan, are perceived to be vying for leadership, or act ICly in any other way unacceptable to a leader, HOW IN HECK do you then expect her to WANT you in the clan?
Simply put, you won't be.
Cabal IS an IC-based clan, despite our OOC camaraderie.
Do not forget this fact.
Do not expect ooc chumminess to stop any member's char reacting to your own char's stupidity or lack of foresight, or holding them responsible for such. And do NOT blame the player for thier character reacting in a way that is reasonable and ICly to be expected.

4: Don't invite your IC or OOC buddies to join Cabal, have them hassle leaders, or promise them you'll get them in.
Membership is solely on the discretion of firstly, Tenebrae, and secondly, the other IC leaders. Period. It's our decision as to who is invited and accepted, and we have a pretty wide set of criterion. We do not, however, accept people whining that they got in and thier buddy did not. Don't do it.
