I think the people are just on crack or something. It makes me want to dig my fingers into my skull to relieve the pressure. All of them are idiots for making a big deal about anything. It makes me wish that Donovan--and the other admin--would be stricter about what can and can not be said on it. Edit: Aoi...just as a reminder this is coming from a person that couldn't be more towards anti-censorship, personal rights, and part of the Pirate Party of the United States. ( www.pirate-party.us/)

I think if posts to either the OOC or IC board had to be approved by admin, people might think a bit more carefully about what they want to say up there. But then, where would be bitch about admin? And could we really wait THREE WEEKS for our posts to be posted? Lol...

The OOC board is a subtle reminder to everyone that OOC posturing and flaming is still what drives this game and the circles within it. It doesn't belong on the RPing forum. It belongs on the website, as a message board. The fact the administration of Hollow isn't bright enough to realize the inherited logic of this is but one of the many clues to us all that they have no clue of how to run a MUD.

Hence the very reason why I created the Steppe Lands the way that I did...now I just need to work out programming issues...Programming can be very difficult.

I think the board is quite entertaining. Something for me to read while I am in a big rest.

What's up with all of that rp naysaying these days, anyways? Can't a person make a bloody suggestion without fifteen people cropping up saying: "I'm sorry, you can't do that. It'll all be shit." Those type of people anger me. They keep the board from being a positive place for suggestions and considerations.

Oi, Deil (looking forward to you getting back, btw!) What's the story there? And yeah, Hollow in general pisses me off in that regard, and many other ways... Guess we'll just have to rp 'round it, huh? Seeya soon! - Sal

The purpose of the OOC board is simple: To have a place for the people who like to take OOC into Hollow to rant. Generally speaking, the OOC board is a waste, but think about it for a sec... It's somewhere that no one will go, cept maybe to get some OJ or talk in private, it's a board and not a channel seen by the world, and it's not time sensitive, so the 'angry' people can flood the board with crap all they want, and we don't have to suffer. Without it, it would spread to the tavern board, the only addition being the OOC tab. Basically, it's a nice little vent. In my opinion, the admin use it for that very reason. To get OOC off the tavern board and somewhere where it can belong. Heck, I got muted for a week for posting an OOC post on the tavern board, and I don't have a single complaint, simply because I know why they did it (frustrating, yes, since I consider a week to be a little long, but nothing I really feel the need to complain about.) Examples are what drive others to follow rules, lest they wish to share my horrible fate, and taking the OOC board out all together would prompt players who frequently use it to lash out at the admin and whoever else pushed for its removal. Discipline is only effective if it teaches a lesson or creates an example. Punishing the half of Hollow that does use it for complaining wouldn't help at all, since the other half was smart enough not to use it in the first place. Remember: There are people smarter -and- dumber than you are. The OOC board is for those dumber ones, and sometimes the smarter ones who can't take the stupidity any more and try to explain smart-people stuffs to the dumb people. I admit, most of what's on the OOC board is garbage, but what better landfill than something that we all know isn't worth our time anyways?

I was happy when the concept of needing to add a joke to punctuate any ooc board post as prerequisite was floating about. Brought smiles. I'm adamant, and have been for a long while, that the majority of Rp should remain serious and practical in that it upholds consistency and represents a dark lash of realism. It's still fun, honest! But the ooc stuff should be flippant and light, with silver linings and a choir of fairies. Simply to rub salt in the wounds of denial. *maniacal cackling* Yeah, bring back the humour.

I have mixed feelings on that board. While it's constantly cluttered with put-downs, or sucking up, it does have some use. I was able to do a few things with it, and Tenebrae's sometimes able to get people on the ball to help conduct RP or atleast pay attention to a matter at hand. Though I suppose there should be some sort of limitation, maybe a better monitoring system.
Pretty much what everyone else said only said in a way that I understand, alright? I think maybe a player, non-biased and created under a different name as not to be connected with another and used only for that purpose, should take to watching the board. If they read over the submitted posts every few days they'd have it under control and it would prevent mindless babbles (like this) from torturing us. It may also help get the IMPORTANT messages that don't involve kissing up to admins seen.
