'Morning Sir'
Kryton looks at the man standing in front of him. Human features, but worn. Despite being an elf, Kryton was still relatively young, and something told him the man standing in front of him should be the higher ranked of the two of them. 'Captain. You have my new troops?'
'I'd hardly call them new Sir; they've been pulled from the war in the West. Permission to speak freely Sir...'
'Granted Captain...'
'What the hell are we doing? What is Vgfh thinking? The lands of Hollow are of little strategic value to us, and least of all Cenril. The war in the west is much more important to us and to the realm as a whole...'
Kryton sighs heavily and looks at the man in front of him. 'Yes, you are correct captain, this is the least of our problems right now, yet it seems to be the one Vgfh is putting the most emphasis on. I'm not sure what he is thinking, but we have to believe he knows what he is doing.'
'With all due respect Sir, what is he doing? From what me and the men can see, he's sitting on his arse, while we're getting attacked on all fronts, while we're dying on all fronts.'
'Captain, that's crossing the line...'
'Sorry Sir. I'm just saying what me and the men are thinking...'
'You know his position, he can't directly interfere. It would lead to more problems than it would solve. Get the men sorted and have the leaders report in at the Mansion for orders.'
'Yes Sir.'
Kryton watches as the man returns to the transport ships and starts to direct the landing of the troops. He turns around and faces the city of Cenril. 'What the hell are you thinking V, he has a point, and you can't deny that...'
'I know he does, but you of all people know what would happen if I were to interfere. There is a lot going on right now. Cenril is and always has been the centre of Hollow, there is a lot of power here, and a lot of answers buried here...'
The voice gains a body as Vgfh slowly shimmers into sight, his form that of his old self. The illusion of his magnificent green scales shimmering in the spectacular morning light. Kryton turns to face him and smiles. 'I thought you were over there... Why must you do that?'
'Why not? Jealous old friend?'
'No, it makes me nervous; I never know when you are there and when you aren’t. I preferred you when you were actually alive... At least then I could tell where you were by the stench.'
Vgfh smiles. 'Should have kept you away from Hans when you were younger... How goes it?'
'The battle? You know how it goes. You know how everything goes? Why do you ask?'
'Humour me...' Vgfh turns to face the ships. Most of the troops now standing in rank and file on the sand.
Kryton sighs, unsure as to why he even has to report to the being in front of him. 'It goes as expected. They've attacked exactly where we want them to, the key positions remain untouched, and have had little enemy interest so far. V... Why have we brought in so many troops, they would be better off fighting the war in the west... It's slight overkill at the moment, we greatly outnumber them, and we're relatively entrenched here...'
Vgfh closes his eyes, taking in a deep breath of the ocean air. 'I remember when I used to have lungs, the way the salt in the air used to feel as it entered them. I miss that...'
'Sir...'
'Please, don't call me Sir, we've been through that... The troops aren’t for them; they are for something else... Something bad is rising... I can feel it. The items of creation, the opening of the relic chamber... The relic chamber has close ties with hell. Since it closed, we've become complacent, even forgot about the horrors that lie in that place. With the opening of the relic chamber, I fear the reopening of Hell can't be too far behind. It's the only explanation I can come up with for me being blinded to the outcome...'
Kryton chews on his lip for a moment thoughtfully before speaking softly... 'Cenril lies on Hell doesn't it...'
Vgfh opens his eyes and turns to face Kryton. 'Indeed it does. It's why it's imperative, for the moment at least, we hold Cenril.'
Vgfh catches sight of the Captain wondering back up the beach towards Kryton and shimmers out of sight. 'The men need you Kryton. I trust you can keep what we've spoken about silent...'
Kryton sighs. 'Yes V. You know it might help moral if you're at least seen...'
'I trust your abilities Kryton, you don't need me.'
Kryton looks at the man standing in front of him. Human features, but worn. Despite being an elf, Kryton was still relatively young, and something told him the man standing in front of him should be the higher ranked of the two of them. 'Captain. You have my new troops?'
