This is a duplicate thread I'm opening for application and discussion. The Eternity crew is being reformed, with less positions available, most of which are described below. Some are already considered or taken, but here are the definitions of each.
Please note: Showing interest in any part of this also means interest in the Isle adventure storyline under way. I would prefer those applying for other plotlines or cabal positions not over burden themselves with too many 'duties', but don't let that stop you from posting here if you have any ideas, comments or questions regarding the Eternity ship RP. Thanks.
The Captain:
Foreman of the Ship; Keeper of the Articles.
First Mate:
The First Mate is the officer who ranks just below the Captain of the ship and takes over in the event that the Captain can no longer perform his duties, as his trusted second in command. Most tasks are appointed directly and personally from the Captain, and range through a variety of skills. In the event this pirate is killed the job falls to the quartermaster.
Quartermaster:
The main purpose of the Quartermaster is to distribute things: rations, powder, work, prize, and punishment. Considered third mate, they are the judge of valuables and guardian of the ship treasury until divided among the crew. None but the Captain has authority to challenge the Quartermaster's decisions. Duties include settling individual quarrels and if need be, acted as a witness to any duels, to insure they are fair and just.
Boatswain (bos ´n):
Among the crew is a skilled seaman (or woman) who keeps the crew in place. The Bos'n is essentially this person. Originally, on board a sailing ship such as a man-of-war or a galleon, the boatswain was in charge of a ship's anchors, cordage, colors, deck hands and the ship's smaller boats, as well as be in charge of the rigging while the ship was in dock. The bos'n is an officer of the ship, and could be considered the fourth mate.
Carpenter:
A ship's carpenter keeps the ship afloat, making necessary repairs, filling holes if need be, and so on.
Medic:[/b]
A surgeon or healer is the only person kept on board who is not required to sign articles (contract). They are responsible for the health of the crew, and have little authority but are highly valued and protected, particularly in times of war.
Navigator:
Cartography is an admired and useful skill in this position, but the main function of the navigator is to keep the vessel on course on seas. They are well trained in the use of nautical instruments, keep records of port stops and discoveries, and are more or less responsible for the crew's income by determining where the treasure hides.
