The Seven Deadly Sins
There are six or seven positions available for this 'group'. The best explanation for this division would be an Eldritch Cabal Swat Team. A secret service, of sorts. This is a plotline still cooking on the fire, and there will be a lot of brainstorming and member input once participants have been selected. But let me give you an idea...
Each chosen member will acquire one of seven definitions to their character, as listed below. These are code identities (from which code-names will spawn) and as expected, there is a need for stealth and discretion being a part of this. This is not a group of assassins. It is a selection of skilled and somewhat shady citizens who live their normal lives on one side of the coin, and assume a more secretive role for the sake of clan well being on the other.
They are identified not by who they are in Hollow, but according to the Sin they represent. Depending on the abilities and characteristics of that person, individual responsibilities will be assigned. It is not necessary to be a member of the Eldritch Cabal to work for it's protection and progress in this team, but as trust is an important quality to prove in becoming one of the 7 Sins, it is a fact that will be taken into heavy consideration when applying for this.
I'll add more as it comes to me. For now, this is an OOC application process. I need to see who's interested.
And now, the sins... (Details subject to change.)
The Charlatan Lion Symbol: Twisted Claw Banner: Gold Sin: Pride
The Emerald Blade Symbol: Crescent Knife Banner: Green Sin: Envy
The Bane of Virtue Symbol: Broken Lock Banner: Royal (purple or blue) Sin: Lust
The General of War Symbol: Chaos Star Banner: Red Sin: Anger (Wrath)
The Keeper Symbol: Handprint Banner: Gray Sin: Greed
The Lotus-Eater Symbol: Flower Banner: White Sin: Sloth
The Ravening Maw Symbol: Spiral Dancers' Banner: Black Sin: Gluttony

I believe this would be a great chance for my character to advance in the World of Hollow. Currently, I'm attempting to find large or small plots to carry out and form a basic story line for what his life is going to be. Unfortunately, I can't do this on my own...as RP is rather spontaneous and you never know what's going to come and when. So, this one had caught my eye. I really think I could do this one, and to a large degree of success.
So, my application is for The Emerald Blade.
Edit: Apologies for posting in the wrong forum, but I read "It is not necessary to be a member of the Eldritch Cabal to work for it's protection and progress in this team, but as trust is an important quality to prove in becoming one of the 7 Sins, it is a fact that will be taken into heavy consideration when applying for this. " and thought that was open to all applications.

I'm really glad some people posted some replies on this, because I'd like to welcome some open discussion, as the idea is still a work in progress.
As for application process, feel free to post your interests here. Those of you who already did have already wormed your way into my brain as prospects. If you wish your identity or competition to remain a secret, feel free to H-mail me ooc about this.
There will be an In Character process for finalization, of course. Interviews, tests, trials, expect plenty of roleplay before you even come close to earning one of these titles officially. Particularly if I haven't seen your character work before.
Also I should note, 'details are subject to change'. This is just a couple brains storming up some ideas, and if it doesn't suit your character, it's not set in stone. But these are the basics and if you have any questions, ideas, comments, I encourage you to bring them (within reason) here.
Game on.
Edit Note: Posting here is an exception to the forum rules, so please only do so here on this thread, and don't sick Tene on me.

As an amendment to my earlier post, I'd like to say that my character's internal qualities would likely qualify him for either the Emerald Blade, the Bane of Virtue, or the Keeper...the Emerald Blade would be preferred, though it seems someone else has already made a bid for it.

Interesting enough I'd say. :3 With the way kassy is going currently, I think He'd be tipping the scales between Gluttony and Sloth.
I think gluttony is self-explanatory...but if not read the Vesyn post in his section. *snickers*

The reason I would like to pesue the Emerald Blade is as follows.
Malandros was never one for pride, nor could he find his self value. Secluded, trapped in a world full of neglect and negativity, it was harder for the man to advance in social activities and make friends. Continuously, he would sit alone- watching others with a smile bearring lips, joyous without extent. Constantly he would remind himself that 'Everything will be okay', though, at points, it didn't seem to be. He looked at all established people in high regard for the longest of times knowing one day he would be accepted into a new culture, and no longer be enyvous of others success. The path was long, cold and lonely...But a path that everyone must take to make something of nothing, to prove that negativity could be turned into fruition and success achieved.
Then he met Tenebrae. She offered him a job working at her establishment, which would begin the end of his lonely days, finding a new self value- aspirations and the like to follow. She was the inspiration to achieve a higher goal, one he'd previously looked at as an 'impossible dream' but now made near reality with a single meet. Should he ever achieve a life long goal of success, his envy would be gone forever.

Malandros is still under heavy construction, and could be turned to suit whichever position need be. I'm quite able to fill in each of the positions available, and would prefer if you found a player who have built their characters on the basics of each.
Isen, I'm sure would really appreciate the opportunity for the Emerald Knight. Get in touch with me if you're able, and we can further this conversation. I'm more then willing to adapt to a different persona for the sake of writing.

Well, then. Thank you, Malandros. I suppose I'll post why I think Isen would make a good Emerald Blade. Let's see...where to begin... Early on in his life, Isen fell in love with a woman. He proceeded to spend the next three years following her around, watching as she loved many others, one by one. He made a general nuisance of himself acting out his jealousy in petty acts of violence and hostility towards her lovers. He'd follow them around like a lost puppy, always trying to sow mistrust between the two of them. Finally came a time when she ran out of others, finally deigning to "love" Isen. Rather than being happy, he spent every minute of his day worrying about her whereabouts, who she was with, what she was saying. Not exactly the most mentally stable of people, Isen begin having fits of madness, times when he would mentally leave all reality behind for extended periods of time, likely exacerbating the situation even more. Then, just when he returned, determined to be around more, she was absent of long periods time. Frustrated, Isen sat around in taverns, watching other, desiring company, waiting. That's all that's really needed for this, I think, but if you want more, I charge $40 per adult and $30 for children...

Hm. Well now. Lust or the Maw.
Lust because.. well, she's Tene. She is very, very good at discerning what it is that people most want, and using that knowledge as a tool to get what she desires. Not that she wants much. Just one small city... a little gold...
The Ravening Maw is also a possibility, because she's a vampire/sineater, and a greedy one. But her greed is not for gold/power/whatever you may think it's for. Especially not power. What motivates her to do all she does is a mystery to everyone but me, and may or may not ever become apparent, depending on what opportunities present themselves. This might be one, I don't know.
I'm happy to step back, though, and let others fill these roles if they think it will further their char's story, Tene's is well-developed already.

As evil tends to mesh and mingle, here are a definition of the seven sins as best can be described. Some have only subtle differences, but this may help when considering what you want your character to represent.
Pride: A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect. Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement, possession, or association.
Envy: Resentment aroused in conjunction with desire for another's possessions or qualities. Grudging admiration and spite seeing a success not their own.
Lust: Intense eagerness or enthusiasm. To have a passionate and especially an inordinate or sinful desire.
Greed: An excessive want to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves. Reprehensible acquisitiveness; insatiable craving for wealth.
Wrath: Forceful and often vindictive retribution or vengeance. Anger of a superior quality and degree.
Sloth: Apathy and inactivity in the practice of virtue. A disinclination to work or labor.
Gluttony: Extravagant indulgence of the appetite for food; voracity. Habitual eating to excess.

Why Demont for Wrath: He is a Wraith, a ghost, he was kicked out of Hell. He has a very bad temper. He's seeking revenge. **No one ICly knows this**
So um, yar.

The Charlatan Lion - Pride
I think Rasja would be an ideal candidate for this since, she's all about self-respect. About the only two duels she has been in were fought to regain what she considered honour. After these little wins, she left marks to be remembered by. One was even a scar to remind the person that they were to respect her.She does hold grudges, and will act on them at times to retrieve the sense of pride she might have lost when someone insulted her.
She's adventurous, in her own right, and is almost always out to do something fun. She knows what she is, or what she believes she is, and does not have a problem telling people. At times, for certain people, she even thinks they should treat her a certain way, for she does have an ego about some things.

I was thinking...for those that do get accepted into this, and with any luck, I'll be one of them, there could be some intense form of training, or something...RP'd of course. Also, the assumption of a different identity is bound to play all kinds of hazardous tricks on the mental state of those involved, so that'd be fun to RP as well.

Post by Deilakrion on Aug 3, 2007 21:24:59 GMT -5
I'd have fun pitting Deila as pride or sloth. Either would work for her. Let's face it, the girl--aside from being insane--is totally engrossed by her worldview. (Though I dunno if her weird way of looking at things would make it impossible to make her one of these. . .*shrugs*) She considers her ways to be best, if not necessarily herself, and takes excessive pride in her hunt and her game. No one, in her mind, can out-do her in the hunt. While she may work well in a pack, she holds herself separate. She never forgets what exactly she is. It is her bane and her freedom, and she has always been obsessive over what she has become. Almost, almost vain. Not quite, though. Sloth wise, well, except for her hunts she's a lazy s-o-b (uh, cept for the obvious gender difference). She enjoys doing what she wants, but she won't do it unless she wants ta. And she cares not for others' values. Everything is done according to her worldview. Such things that others consider virtues are worthless to her. Iunno if I should be more detailed, but if I can be of use (even in some way to whatever Sins are chosen) just lemme know. I CAN ACTUALLY RP NOW! SQUEEEEEE) . . .actually, greed might work for her too. 0o She's skinny as anything, but when she eats she eats as much as she can. Wolfish behavior, perhaps, but she is a scavenger. She hoards her food, for she never knows when her next meal will be. -_- just ask any of the several raw meats Tene has thrown her way how they felt about it.

Whilst retaining gluttony since kassy does tend to feed upon emotions ravenously and just glut himself on what they provide him-
I'd like to append that he would probably work rather well as the bane of virtue..due to someone having caused him to take a turn from simplistic demi imp, to something of a more insidious nature (Demi-Incubus) -_-;. Thus being said, It does indeed have potential there for all sorts of unpleasentness and otherwise.

Post by Terra on Aug 8, 2007 3:02:55 GMT -5
When I first read the thread I didn't think that Terra would be able to have a part in this RP because she's just not ... sinful. Or not in the most common used form of the word. Pride means nothing to her, Anger/Wrath isn't something she bothers with aside from the occasional tantrum, she stays too busy for Sloth, too busy for Gluttony, doesn't care for another's possesions or standing in society so not much for Envy, gives away things too much to be considered greedy and is too ... something or another to be Lust. But then this was posted and Terra was put into consideration. Terra is a very, very enthusastic person, and awfully eager for whatever purpose or adventure is proposed. She lusts for adventure, for something to fulfill, to be there. It's not so much a sexual desire, nor nature, but a never-ending need to satiate the urge for trouble; causing it or being a part in it. Now, I'm not sure if this is the type of Lust that you're looking for, and if this even falls under the category, but I figured I'd give it a shot and nominate Ter for the part. She needs something to do these days anyway, with the island having some ... issues.

Please continue to post your OOC interest or 'application' as it were, here. All real interviews will be roleplayed In-Character and though decisions will be made soon, this is a secretive plot and most sessions will be conducted privately. If you don't send word of some interest there is a good chance your character won't be considered.

I still haven't quite worked out all of the tweaks on Caildeas, but I do know one thing: she is incredibly possessive. In life as a dryad, it was to her tree: a natural response. Now, a specter-illusionist of sorts, she holds Daein as if he were her most prized possession. That's Pride. She could also be a candidate for Envy; she's insanely jealous of others and their abilities to procreate.. And for that matter, actually be alive. As a dryad, she was unable to conceive with her true love; now, she watches all the happy couples, knowing she will never have what they do. (Maybe I should have her kill babies to further announce this fact... /cough).

I'd be interested in applying spawne for Wrath, since its all he pretty much does. If anyone would like to see his sack full of dismembered limbs, you only need to ask. Its one hell of a sack. Its been a while since I had an RP I could truly commit to.

Okay. Got a character and am sticking with him. Wren. =) Anywho, he's real lazy. Doesn't fight, doesn't do much of anything but daydream. So, sloth if there's no one else, ya? Promise I'd be good at it. =D Let's just hope your rp doesn't flop like Dono's did (I played Sloth then, actually).
